Office and home office furniture: the office chairs
No office in any place in the world can exist without a chair.
In the computer era the largest part of the time spent by most of the persons working in an office consists in sitting in front of a pc (or mac) hopefully comfortably and respecting the rules of a correct position and ergonomics. On a chair, of course.
Normally office chairs are swivelling, which means they can move easily either on their central pivot to reach all sides of the desk simply turning, and can also move on wheels towards other close parts of the office without scratching the floor and making unbearable noise, thus disturbing the colleagues' concentration.
The latest new trends indicate the ergonomic chair to be the best choice from the simple clerk, to the designer or the architect and for any people who live most day in front of a desk.
What is the difference between an office chair and say a kitchen chair? The second one can be used as a desk chair even if it is not really suitable, while the first one has its raison d'être only placed in its active environment.
The increasing variety of sizes, accessories, details, colours and construction materials can make the choice very hard, the main subject remaining (besides the comfort) the personal taste and a certain régard for the general appearance of the room.
Mainly made with a steel structure, with more or less padding for the seat and back, upholstered in fabric or leather, it can be equipped with arms, headrest, a swinging back which can lean forwards and backwards following the user's back movements.
