The lounge chairs
In waiting areas of stations, airports, public offices, professional studies, music clubs and similar there are always a lot of users and passers that indeed wait for their turn to take the bus or the plane, to shake hands with the architect or the lawyer, to pick their documents or to deliver a package, to chill out after a night of loud music.
All these people usually spend the time until their appointment is due, and often read or chatter or work on their laptops or smartphones or simply handwriting (is it still happening? Are there still people who write by hand? Seriously, that should be a point for a discussion or a forum…). Of course to accomplish their tasks the people should have a support where to lean on. The best options are chairs or armchairs of course, sometimes in rows or on beams, although there are other pieces that can be used, benches, low stools, lounge chairs and sofas for example.
The lounge chairs in particular have the shape of a chair and are not as imposing as an armchair or a sofa, but they are provided with large seating spaces and comfortable enough to host the people for a considerable span of time.
The building materials to the lounge chairs are the most varied, like in all the chair ranges there may be wood, metal, plastic, upholstery, leather, often mixed together in various shapes and styles, from the most modern and minimalistic following the famous guideline stating that "less is more", to the richest accented tones of the most classical pieces in traditional style.
Peculiar and essential to the lounge chairs is their durability and their resistance to tear and wear due to the fast turn over of people using them in the waiting areas. Also theatres, conference halls and shops and stores are often if not always equipped for the short or long break of the customer/spectator with stools, chairs, armchairs, lounge chairs or sofas.
