lamps
From the fire to the leds, literally thousands steps have been made in the evolution of mankind and illumination.
Men in prehistory used fire to keep the wild beasts at distance and to fight the fear of dark and kept torches and embers to have constantly the fire lit.
The fear of darkness is one of the ancestral fears that accompanies men from the eve of time, but Progress has helped much in keeping the night at bay with the city illuminations and the electric devices we are using everyday in our homes, so now we can count on perpetual daylight if we want. Not really sure that the fear of dark has been overcome, but at least the night seems not as scary as at the beginning of time.
In all situations with a simple click or a swooshing dimmer or a programmed timetable we can turn the darkest corners of our buildings into softly or harshly illuminated zones. Even in scarce light conditions we can read, use the computers, teach, write, paint, work, go shopping, have meals, go for a walk and all other human activities.
Interiors must be illuminated and lamps are a very important part of the furnishing process.
The right illumination (besides being a shock of the brains) can make the real difference between a perfectly decorated and an almost good furnished enviroments.
The assortment of lights and lamps available is so wide that it is really impossible to list all the different kinds, it is better to browse the net or the shops.
