Chaise longue
In the beginning, there was your mother's hug. When you grow up, you keep on searching the warmth and quiet cosiness of that feeling.
Designers and architects have found The Solution in the very person of Le Corbusier who needn't any introduction as his name is synonym of modern, everlasting design and whose name his unmistakably tied to the chaise longue.
Which was actually pre-existing Le Corbusier but after he redesigned it there is only its curved, elegant, airy shape in the collective mind.
The original chaise longue is a sort of ergonomic S-shaped narrow bed with upholstered cylindrical adjustable head rest, both made in leather, laying on a stainless steel tube structure; variations are always possible, lacquered structure instead of steel, pony-skin instead of leather; chase longue is also the name for the beach or outdoor seat where you can lay down to sunbathe, and that one is normally made of plastic, wood or fabric and has very little in common with its noble sister.
Perfect destination for this piece of high design is a sitting room or a study, which style can be easily modern or very traditional to highlight the contrast between the historic and the modern classics.
Prices are usually quite expensive as we are talking about a chef d'oeuvre in the history of high design furniture, but there is nothing compared to the sensation and the feeling of going back to childhood and experience again that loving cradling hug.
