The barstool is a particular seat expressly created for sitting comfortably beside the counter in the bars and cafés or in areas where you can have a short pause.
The seat height is usually taller than a normal chair or stool, about 70/80 cm compared to an average chair seat height of 45/48: when you are at a bar counter you usually stand without sitting, so for a short pause the stool offers you comfort and relax. It usually has no back at all or a very low one, you should be able to turnaround when sitting to glance over the room and also easily move it when necessary The structure always includes a footrest to avoid the user's legs to float a few centimetres above the floor and make yourself ridiculous.

Very common in all environments, the bar stool structure can be made of the most varied materials such as all kinds of solid wood, or steel, or lacquered metal; the seat can be in upholstered leather or fabric, in flat cane or wood, in leather, or even in the newest technopolymers or PET (PVC is another possibility but the latest environmental guidelines advise against this plastic as its production pollutes the air).

Most of the materials used are easy to maintain. Bar stool shapes vary from model to model from fashionable to classical design, and bar stools can be set quite simply in all sorts of public meeting points such as airports, train stations, hotels, pubs and wherever people gather around a tall table, even in private kitchens on a breakfast table, for a quick, informal family meeting before daily engagements.
Bar stools evocate dim lighted bar rooms where friends spend their evenings pleasantly chatting together in front of a refreshing drink.
